About Double Down Tattoo
Double Down Tattoo is an independent editorial website about getting and caring for tattoos. It publishes fourteen guides and one planning tool for people who are thinking about a tattoo, getting one, healing one, or changing their mind about one.
What we are, and what we are not
- We are not a tattoo studio. We don't tattoo, book appointments or sell aftercare products.
- We are not the former studio that used this name. Until around 2018 this domain belonged to a tattoo and piercing studio in Glendale, Arizona. The current site has no connection to that business, its staff or its social-media accounts. If you're looking for that studio, this isn't it.
- We are not medical professionals, and no named artist or clinician has reviewed our pages. For that reason every health statement links to a named public source (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, the NHS, EADV, the U.S. FDA, GOV.UK) and tells you when to ask a professional.
Who runs it
The site is run by a small independent publisher that operates a handful of informational websites. Pages are bylined to the "Double Down Tattoo editorial team" because the work is done collectively, not by one named expert. An earlier version of this site displayed author personas with claimed tattooing experience. Those personas could not be verified, so we removed them and every first-person experience claim. See our editorial policy.
How the guides are made
We start from one reader question per page, read the relevant official guidance, and write a plain-language answer that says where sources disagree. AI writing tools may assist with drafting and editing. Every page is then checked by a person against the cited sources before publication, and nothing is published unread. Diagrams and checklists are drawn by us in code; we don't use stock or AI-generated tattoo photos.
How the site is funded
The site shows advertising through Google AdSense on guide pages. Advertisers have no say in what we write. We have no affiliate links, sponsored posts or paid product placements. If that ever changes, it will be labelled on the page.
